About the opportunity
The global dairy market is amongst one of the most volatile commodity markets in the world and market price risk is one of the key variables that can influence Fonterra's financial performance. Fonterra’s Risk and Commodity Trading (R&CT) team is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to actively manage Fonterra’s exposure to market price volatility and create an additional layer of value for the co-op through providing price risk management solutions to our customers.
To support the growth and evolution of the R&CT function Fonterra requires high quality, innovative and accurate analytical support. Reporting directly to the Integrated Portfolio Manager, you will play a crucial role in analysing and optimizing Fonterra's integrated physical and financial portfolio and contribute to improving our understanding and management of supply, demand, and price volatility.
Key responsibilities include:
Dive deep into Fonterra's end-to-end value chain, gaining a comprehensive understanding of our global dairy portfolio and the key value drivers of Milk Price and gross margin.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate high-quality analysis, leveraging data-driven insights to develop clear and effective portfolio management recommendations.
- Proactively contribute to the development and maintenance of tools, systems, and reports, continuously improving our portfolio management capabilities.
- Identify and seize opportunities where your analytical capabilities and portfolio knowledge can drive improved business outcomes.
- Support the analysis of non-standard pricing mechanisms for supply agreements, ensuring alignment with our desired risk position and delivering positive EBIT for Fonterra.
- Assist in the analysis, development, and implementation of S&O's portfolio management strategy. Your contributions will define the optimal positioning of Fonterra's contract book and financial exposures, maximizing value and generating a stable EBIT in a volatile market environment.

Proven analytical skills with prior experience analysing complex data sets and extracting meaningful insights.- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling you to effectively translate analysis into clear recommendations for a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A passion for continuous improvement and the ability to contribute to the development of tools, systems, and reports to enhance portfolio management capabilities.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to identify and capture opportunities that leverage our analytical capabilities and portfolio knowledge.
- Tertiary qualification in a business or technical discipline.

Based in our Auckland CBD Fonterra office, this opportunity is available on a permanent full-time basis offering 40 hours per week, between Monday – Friday. Subject to candidate’s experience, this role will pay $65,000 – $80,000 salary per annum. The successful applicant will also be eligible for the company’s short term incentive scheme (10% of base salary).
