Our headoffice in Rotterdam is a lively environment where we work with about 155 people and over 30 different nationalities.
The European Business Control Team comprises 3 Sr. Business Controllers and 4 Controllers and Analysts supporting them. Each member actively participates to best practice sharing activities and contributes to the development of tools and processes to the benefit of the entire team.

Refresco currently embarks on a strategic journey called Operational Excellence for which we will set up a Global Operations team, lead by the Chief Manufacturing Officer. This will have to be supported and enabled in the European businesses, in which you will play a strong role. You will provide the Operations Director Europe and his team across the region with proactive hands-on financial information and guidance in their day-to-day and strategic decision making. You have one Business Controller Operations reporting to you, to support you in data- and variance analysis, reporting and running specific projects.

Regional Business Controller Manufacturing


In this challenging role you will report directly to the CFO Europe. You are the finance business partner to bring financial highlights to the decision making process. The most important stakeholders for this role are the European Management Team (“Operating Board”), the Finance Directors in the 8 Business Units that the European region holds, the local Operation Controllers and the European Operations team-members.


About the role


  • You work closely with the business units and contribute to the organization’s overall success by proactively managing the financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting for (European consolidated) Operations and by being an effective member of the European Business Control team;
  • This position is responsible for delivering complete, accurate and timely key financial reporting and metrics (in close cooperation with Financial Control);
  • You deliver comprehensive budget and forecasts, ensuring appropriate capital fund expenditure activity, providing visibility to operational performance improvement and cost reduction opportunities, providing, and supporting key operational performance metrics reporting;
  • The role assures high-quality data to help the Regional (and Global) Operations organization to take the right decisions to achieve company strategic objectives;
  • You take a proactive approach by challenging with qualitative performance analysis to point out areas which need to be improved;
  • The role guides the Operations organization in setting smart objectives, key priorities, and ambitious targets;
  • You have a strong drive to always deliver excellent personal results and you are passionate about control, operations, new technology, processes and working methods and support an innovative culture.


About you

  • Master's degree in Finance, Control or Accountancy
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and ability to thrive in an environment with tight timelines, business pressure and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated leadership through clear communication in team environments as well as effectively within all levels of the organization.
  • Strong sense of team and individual ownership and accountability with the ability to influence others and lead teams in a similar fashion.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities to take initiative to drive the business forward in a collaborative and team based approach.
  • Good understanding of financial and budgeting/forecasting processes of a manufacturing environment and how manufacturing processes drive financial results.
  • Analytic capability to translate financial information into meaningful business analysis for business leadership.
  • Ability to translate operational trends and metrics to timely business and financial discussions and decisions related to performance and results.
  • Experience working with ERP and reporting systems and ability to lead strategy for system simplification and leverage for reporting improvements.
  • The ability to translate strategy to results.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of relevant accounting guidance (IFRS) and best practices in internal controls.
