Job Description


The Director of Quality Assurance will be responsible for the development and implementation of quality management systems and global quality assurance and control programs that improve Vuori’s product quality, increase customer satisfaction and reduce the ‘cost of quality’ across the organization. The Quality Assurance (QA) Director will oversee the activity of the quality assurance and quality control departments and staff, developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization’s products and/or development processes

These responsibilities span all product categories and covers all externally-sourced products for our DTC, Retail, Wholesale and International customers and partners.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Execute a global quality management strategy to improve customer-facing quality performance and reduce quality-related spending across the globe. Prioritize and implement predictive (versus reactive) tools and techniques
  • Lead a global organization of quality professionals supporting external suppliers. Build and maintain a high-performing global organization through strong leadership, professional development, and hiring programs.
  • Develop and utilize global key performance indicators (KPIs) for manufactured and externally-sourced products to monitor quality performance and effectively manage non-conformances.
  • Conduct monthly Global Quality executive briefing with senior executive management.
  • Review monthly quality performance (KPIs), major non-conformances, corrective actions and drive improvements through root cause analysis.
  • Document quality requirements and inspection criteria for new products. Ensure requirements are incorporated into the New Product Development process and establish quality performance standards prior to production start.
  • Collaborate with Global Sourcing and Production teams to incorporate quality-related provisions into supply agreements. Hold suppliers accountable for actual expenses related to non-conforming products.
  • Work with Global Sourcing and Production to pursue cost recovery for quality-related expenses.
  • Develop and deploy a capability to perform failure analysis, isolate causes of non-conformance, and implement corrective action plans
  • Develop and deploy quality audit programs to verify quality performance criterion are met for in-process and end of line inspections

Qualifications
  • 10+ Years work experience including 3-5 years of leadership experience leading quality functions with a global presence
  • Extensive experience with performance or outdoor products
  • Significant experience leading teams within a matrix organization and across geographies and cultures
  • Strong leadership and communications skills
  • Ability to think and plan strategically, operating in KPI driven culture.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both strategic and functional levels
  • Must possess strong knowledge of global apparel production, logistics and coordination

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • International and domestic travel required (up to 10%) including by air, ground and overnight
  • Willing and able to work additional hours when needed.
